Our Story
Kavvas family has been involved in the production and marketing of agricultural products since the 1950s. In 1999 the siblings Christos Kavvas and Elena Kavvas, in order to grow their business, found the KAVVAS Ltd.
Facilities
The company has offices in Nea Ionia, Attica and recently owned a modern packaging plant with storage facilities, refrigerators and sorting and packaging lines, at 81st km of Athens-Lamia National Road, continuing for 3 generations the standardization, packaging, storage and marketing of fresh fruit and vegetables, mainly potatoes, onions, carrots, watermelons, melons, and various vegetables from different parts of Greece and abroad.
Operation modes
Both the infrastructure and our operation mode ensure on a continuous basis the supply of high-quality products to our customers.
I) We have selected Greek products that are grown exclusively for our company, complying with the GLOBAL G.A.P. Good Agricultural Practice System (GRASP) and packaged under the supervision of experienced and specialized personnel.
II) We have also been included in Organization, both for “Naxos Potato”, and for “Nevrokopi Potato”
III) We implement a food safety management system in accordance with the requirements of the international standard ELOT EN ISO 22000: 2018.
IV) We maintain a fully computerized system for the traceability of our products, so that we know at any time which of our customers has received a product from our producers, and vice versa.
V) We ensure the legislative compliance regarding plant protection products (PPPs) with:
a. Responsibility statements of all producers for the use of PPP per batch of product produced.
b. All the cooperating producers comply with the certified integrated management systems in agriculture production, such as GLOBAL G.A.P
c. sampling analyzes of products for PPP residues and heavy metals.
